Htet Kyaw
Garden Lead
Hello, I’m Htet Kyaw, but most people call me Tom. I was born in Shwe Bo, the ‘Rice Land’ of central Myanmar (Burma).
In late 2023, I came to the International Buddhist College (IBC), Hat Yai, Thailand to complete my BA in Buddhist Philosophy

Following that, I sought practical experience and self-reliance at Pun Pun Organic Farm. I’ve been living and volunteering here, supported by the wonderful Pun Pun family, while also pursuing a Master’s in Linguistics at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (Chiang Mai Campus), Thailand.
My journey has led me to Panya Forest, drawn by a deep desire to live in harmony with nature and cultivate mindful awareness. My nearly two years of volunteering at Pun Pun Self Reliance Center and Organic Farm have provided invaluable experience in growing and preparing food, and working alongside the earth and its creatures. This has significantly deepened my passion for sustainable living. I believe in fostering a community built on understanding, flexibility, and mutual respect, qualities essential for a joyful and sustainable life.
Inspired by the Majjhima Magga, the Buddha’s Middle Way, I strive for balance in life, avoiding extremes of rigidity. I believe this approach is fundamental to creating a lasting and vibrant community at Panya Forest.
My vision for Panya Forest is a sanctuary open to all, free from discrimination based on religion, gender, beliefs, or any other differences. A place where all beings, visible and invisible, are welcomed.
My mission is to embody mindful living, cultivate joyful work, respect all life, and foster a culture of continuous learning and mutual support. I believe these principles will create a productive synergy at Panya Forest, a place where green and peace flourish.
Welcome to Panya Forest. Let’s cultivate a life of harmony and shared well-being together.
